Professor Wang Shichang, School of Chemical Engineering, Tianjin University, China Ocean News, devoted himself to the research of desalination and membrane technology for a long time. At the 28th China Science and Technology Forum Symposium on Desalination and Island Water Supply Safety, he said: "At present, the relevant departments of the State, which produces water treatment equipment, are vigorously supporting some powerful enterprises. Industry, strengthen the research and development of desalination technology, with a view to achieving technological breakthroughs and mature application of products by 2016.
In recent years, China's seawater desalination technology has developed rapidly, with breakthroughs in reverse osmosis composite membranes, high-pressure pumps and energy recovery devices. However, the lack of independent innovation and basic technology to be improved urgently, and the difficulty of domestic application and promotion are still the shortcomings that restrict the development of seawater desalination industry in China. In this regard, experts and scholars at the meeting have made suggestions and suggestions.
Breakthroughs have been made in the three core technologies
"Technically speaking, the gradual industrialization of seawater desalination has become a trend." Wang Shichang said. He cited thermal and membrane processes, which are the main commercial desalination technologies, as examples. He said that thermal processes have the capacity of large-scale construction, but some membrane technologies still need to be imported. China's seawater desalination technology has gradually formed a larger industrial scale, with dozens of units of large and small, and the total capacity of water production reaches about 700,000 tons per day. Some domestic technologies have been exported to foreign countries and entered the international market.
Chen Huanlin, a professor at Zhejiang University, is the director of the Society for Seawater Desalination and Water Reuse in China. According to him, the key technical equipment of reverse osmosis seawater desalination mainly includes three aspects: composite membrane, high pressure pump and energy recovery device. Nowadays, there are breakthroughs in these three aspects of core technology and equipment, and the speed of industrialization is accelerating.
Chen Huanlin said: "With the support of relevant national projects, we have developed a seawater desalination reverse osmosis composite membrane with good performance and demonstrated its application through domestic and foreign projects; the developed high-pressure seawater desalination pump has also reached the international level of similar products; and the research and development level of energy recovery devices is also high." Improved. It does not take long for the energy recovery device developed independently in China to be used in the 10,000-ton seawater desalination demonstration project.
Three Strategies to Break Development Barriers
However, while the core technology of seawater desalination has made breakthroughs and the speed of industrialization has accelerated, the lack of independent innovation and basic technology to be improved has become a shortcoming of the development of seawater desalination industry in China.
Question 1
Lack of independent innovation technology
"Compared with foreign countries, the main gap is basic technology. "RO pure water equipment" Wang Shichang said, at present, on the one hand, there is a lack of independent innovation technology and complete set of advanced equipment, on the other hand, the construction of desalination plant is still in an isolated and scattered primary application state, and there is a lack of system planning, high-standard design and high-quality demonstration projects. Generally speaking, China's desalination technology is still at the primary level in the world.
Wang Shichang told reporters that China has built more than 10,000 tons of desalination projects, but only a small part of the use of independent technology. At present, China's seawater desalination industry mainly relies on imports of key equipment and core components such as reverse osmosis membrane, energy recovery device, high-pressure pump, corrosion resistant materials and so on. Complete and large-scale technologies are relatively low. There is still a lack of systematic research on the commonness and key technologies of 10,000-ton and 100,000-ton seawater utilization projects. The technology of seawater desalination coupled with renewable energy such as nuclear energy, ocean energy, wind energy and solar energy is still in the stage of exploration and research, and needs to be improved continuously.
Countermeasures 1
Promoting research and development of basic technology
Wang Shichang suggested that the relevant state departments should continue to promote the research and development of basic technology and establish a strong technological basis for industrialization. At the same time, it is hoped that the country will establish a good economic system to promote the application of desalinated water.
Question two
Large-scale engineering applications still need time
Considering the three core technologies of seawater desalination reverse osmosis composite membrane, high pressure pump and energy recovery device, Chen Huanlin also believes that the industrialization level of seawater desalination in China still needs to be improved: the performance of seawater desalination membrane products in China is basically similar to that in foreign companies, but the product variety is relatively single; the research and development of high pressure pump for seawater desalination in China The product performance can reach the advanced level of foreign countries, but it still needs a process to be recognized and accepted by users. Energy recovery devices in China have been gradually applied in hundreds of tons of small-scale desalination projects, but it still needs time to be applied in large-scale desalination projects.
According to Chen Huanlin, the investment cost of desalination project is high, the profit is small, and the risk of enterprises is high. In a sense, desalination and utilization of seawater resources are strategic decision-making at the national level, which involves ensuring the safety of municipal water supply and drinking water, and need the relevant policy support of government departments.
Countermeasure two
Speed up the transformation of scientific and technological achievements
Chen Huanlin suggested that the state promulgate relevant supporting policies to speed up the popularization and application of domestic membranes and increase market share; speed up the popularization and application of domestic high-pressure pumps to increase market share of domestic products; R&D units should cooperate closely with relevant enterprises to jointly develop and speed up the transformation of scientific and technological achievements; and vigorously promote energy. The application of volume recovery device in small-scale desalination project accumulates experience through project operation, and further organizes scientific and technological efforts to tackle the key materials and manufacturing technology of energy recovery device for large-scale desalination project in Hangzhou.
Question three
Difficult application and promotion in China
Another phenomenon that can not be ignored is that many enterprises in China have been involved in the field of desalination and engaged in equipment manufacturing. Although China's 1000-ton desalination unit has been successfully exported to Indonesia, its application and promotion in China is still difficult.
Ruan Guoling, chief engineer of Tianjin Institute of Seawater Desalination and Comprehensive Utilization, State Oceanic Administration, has been engaged in seawater desalination research for more than 20 years. He said that seawater desalination technology is the technology of energy for water resources, so turning seawater into fresh water will naturally be greatly affected by energy prices. In addition to the low energy prices in the Middle East, other countries and regions are facing the same problems.
Countermeasure three
Establishment of special funds for seawater utilization
Ruan Guoling suggested that the relevant departments of the state should set up special funds for seawater utilization, focusing on supporting a number of large-scale demonstration projects for seawater desalination and comprehensive utilization of independent innovative technologies, which not only benefit the cultivation of the market, but also benefit the implementation of the policy of benefiting the people, so as to realize the accumulation and large-scale development of seawater utilization industry in China.
