In the process of industrial water treatment, the mission of the pretreatment process is to make the water source of industrial water - surface water, groundwater painting water treatment equipment or urban tap water treatment meet the water quality target allowed by the follow-up water treatment equipment, and then ensure the safe and stable operation of the water treatment system for a long time.
The main objects of pretreatment are suspended solids, colloids, microorganisms, organic matter, residual chlorine and heavy metals in free deionized water treatment equipment. These impurities have negative effects on water treatment equipment such as electrodialysis, ion exchange, reverse osmosis and sodium filtration.
(1) Suspended solids
In the treatment of ion exchange water, the equipment for washing suspended substance glass tank membrane of influent water will adhere to the surface of AC agent particles and reduce the AC capacity.
In the treatment of electrodialysis water, suspended solids in the influent will adhere to the surface of the membrane and become an obstacle to ion migration, adding membrane resistance.
In the process of sodium filtration and reverse osmosis, the suspended matter in the influent will block the micropore of the membrane and reduce the permeability.
(2) Organic substances
In the treatment of ion exchange water, organic matter will pollute the anionic exchange resin, reduce its AC capacity, increase the consumption of regenerant and shorten the service life of the resin.
In the treatment of electrodialysis water, the polarity of the membrane will be changed after the polar organic matter is adsorbed by the membrane, and the selective permeability of the membrane will be reduced, and the membrane resistance will be added.
In the treatment of reverse osmosis and sodium filter water, organic matter, colloid and suspended matter are easy to block the micropore of reverse osmosis and sodium filter membrane, which makes the permeability decrease quickly.
(3) Microorganisms
Bacteria in water transfer to the electrodialysis membrane and multiply on the membrane surface, which will add resistance to the membrane.
Bacteria and microorganisms can erode cellulose acetate reverse osmosis and nanofiltration membranes. Bacterial reproduction can contaminate membranes.
(4) Free residual chlorine
Free residual chlorine can oxidize and differentiate the active groups of cation exchange resins or ion exchange membranes, resulting in damage to the structure of resins or membranes. It will also deteriorate the function of reverse osmosis polyamide membrane.
(5) Iron and manganese ions
Iron and manganese ions are easy to be adsorbed by ion exchange resin, and are not easy to be replaced by regenerants, reducing the AC capacity. It also pollutes and poisons the electrodialysis membrane. When the content of iron and manganese metal oxides is high, hydroxide colloids are easily formed on the surface of reverse osmosis and nanofiltration membranes, resulting in deposition effect.
Because of the above negative effects, the water production of industrial water treatment system is reduced, the water quality of effluent is reduced, the operation cycle is shortened, the consumption target is increased, the cost of water production is improved, the service life of resin and membrane is shortened, and the operation management is added to the trouble.
